For the love of golf!

I was never going to play golf. That was something I said in the nineties. It was snobby and looked extremely boring, plus I didn´t have the time because most of my time was consumed by sailing. What I didn’t know then was that about 25 years later that sport would be my great passion in life and the one sport I love doing the most. I started playing golf with my current boyfriend a few years ago, the relationship ended about a year later or so which unfortunately meant that so did my golf. Four years ago I met the man of my dreams and lucky me, he played golf. I have never played any sports that involve a ball, so golf has and is pretty hard for me. No talent whatsoever, but I am quite stubborn and to suck at something isn’t my style at all. So after I had played about 2 years with Philip and not really getting anywhere I signed up for lessons and now I have more tools and more fun on the course, working my way down the handicap ladder even though it is taking its time. In 2020 when covid-19 hit the world Philip and I were talking about golf accessories. He was really into unique headcovers and the ones he liked were made and sold in the US which for us meant extra expensive toll charges to Sweden. In the early 2000 I worked for several years as a sailmaker in both Sweden and New Zealand, so even though I hadn’t done it for a long time, I still knew how to sow, so we decided to give it a go and make our own headcovers. We named the company Sofo Golf since that is the area we live in (South of Folkungagatan,) the hipster Mecca of Stockholm, pretty far from golf. The idea was to make the covers for friends and family, but I don’t know what my problem is, I can never make something simple and easy for myself, so we decided to start a proper business. Keep this in mind, I already have a job and so does Philip so this meant a business on the side, that hopefully would grow too fast haha. We started an online shop in October 2020 and have today costumers from all over the world, but mainly Europe. We have made over 300 covers in our little workshop we have in the basement of our building and the love and feedback we get from our sofo golfers is amazing and very awarding. Who knows in a few years time you will find a sofo golf cover in most golfbags ! So that is the story of my love for golf, and endless lovestory that just keeps getting better and better.
